PSP Fix to “There are no games”
Posted on 24. Aug, 2008 by Haziq Ruzaini in Tutorials
The PSP version before the fix is 3.95 m33-4. This is problem related to “There are no games” in memory stick, the PSP is able to play original UMD’s but unable to load EBOOT.PBP during recovery process.
hazirah’s PSP stucked in version 3.95 m33-4 after upgrading from 3.52 m33. we were unable to figure out the cause of the incident. Besides that, there was also another problem,
Unable to load the Recovery files in X:\PSP\Recovery\EBOOT.PBP file to downgrade to 1.5 version in order to start from the scratch to make a clean upgrade from the originial firmware.
I used the M33 Network Update method since the PSP was unable to detect any of psp related files (.iso , .cso or even .pbp file) but during halfway the download somewhat failed at 0% (means there is no download activity). I conclude that the Memory Stick that she used has been locked (after upgrade) to be read or written by PSP.
I googled around a little bit - go through random configurations on M33 Recovery Mode, enable disable this and that settings, but still failed. So I found this tool Catb50 Team’s Magic Memory Stick Creator v2.0 FULL to reformat the memory stick and it works greatly. Only few steps to accomplish this program:
- Unzip the file and click on BEGIN.bat, it will popup as MS-DOS program to execute the process.
- It will request you to format the memory stick, so the best thing to do for now, is backup the data first if you want to and then move on to the next step.
- Enter the letter drive, and then Enter once again. The process will begin.
- It will request you to remove and stop connection and Enter to continue.
- The program will copy files needed to complete the process.
As for the next step, I don’t execute despertar cementerio (for upgrade to 3.85m33) on PSP because I have higher version. The game is back there again appeared on the memory stick.
I continued to upgrade to 4.01 m33 by executing the simplest way of updating the firmware through M33 Network Update. I could have download the Custom Firmware 4.01 by myself but since the wireless network is strong in my dorm - I just use Network Update instead.
Below is how my directory on hazirah’s PSP look like. Notice that I did not even rename the Memory Stick drive to another name — and it still works fine.
ISO/CSO games are put into X:\ISO\
MP3 are placed into X:\PSP\MUSIC\
Photo files are placed into X:\DCIM\101MSDCF\
The cxmb and seplugins are the custom XMB themes installed after I updated to 4.01 m33.
This is the latest with cxmb installed.

I think most people just don’t listen. Then if someone gives a response that they don’t like they will say you just don’t understand.

I know a lot of people that always want to take the short-cut way of doing things and rushing to do what they want, only to realize that they should’ve taken the long road.
Kudos to this post.
